Find the electronic cigarette that works for you

In all the time I have vaped, on electronic cigarettes, it has always been a constant search for what works best for me.  The key I found is to keep looking, as money allows, and move up to one that completely satisfies you.   Electronic cigarette information is out on the web everywhere.  All you have to do is be willing, and have the time to do your own research.   I have spent time over the last couple years feeling great about my e-cig, and other times feeling like it is lacking in one way or another.   The key to enjoy vaping for yourself, is not what works best for me, but what works best for you.  Hopefully I can shed some light on my journey to help point you in the right direction so you too can find your perfect ecig vaping pleasure.

The first thing you will do is likely move up to, or start with some type of an ego kit.  These are great starting places, as they do produce decent vapor, and the batteries will last a long time.  If you get the stronger ones, you can have a battery that will last you all day.  That is step one.. getting past the charge every couple of hours stage. ( That drove me nuts)

Then I found that the vivi nova held a lot more e liquid than say a C-4 or C-6 clearomizer, and that was cool, because I could go out all day and not need to carry a bottle of juice with me to refill later on.  Your mileage may very… many people do not like the bulk or size of a vivi nova, and it took me a couple of days to get used to it.  I did find however that I enjoy more of an airy vape, meaning, I like more air flow than a lot of people and the vivi nova is a bit lacking in that department.  However, I haven’t found a better tank atomizer yet, so it is my go to guy for leaving the house.

When at home, I do put on my corsair dripping atomizer though, because I really enjoy the higher air flow it has.  Now, with micro coils, it is really doing an awesome job for me too.  I mean a lot of good vapor and flavor.  But for you, you may enjoy the smaller clearomizers that go with your ego batteries.  No problem there.  It is all about what works best for you.

If you are curious though, and want a lot more information, or have specific questions you want answered, and do not have a vapers store in your area, where do you go?  That is simple.  You have the whole world at your finger tips.  Just hop on the web and crawl over to a good forum and read away, and ask your questions.  Please make sure to use the search feature first though, or people may hop in and bad mouth you for not taking the time to look something up that has been asked ever and over.  It is not nice, but some people just are that way…

The best forum I have found to date is the main electronic cigarette forum at http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/     There you will find information on literally everything you could ever think to ask, and a whole lot more.   I have been to other ecig forums and have found many to have rude posters and not to my liking at all.  This one has so much more information than any of the others I have found also, so it works out well.  I actually read this forum for about a year before I wanted to make a post, so then I finally signed up.

The great thing about it, is I think this may be one of the first forums that was built for electronic cigarette users, and therefore it is one of, if not the largest one out there.  Tons and tons of great information just waiting to be had.  Go have a look and continue your journey of vaping, to find your most satisfying vape.

Keep vaping! and thank you for coming by.

Electronic cigarette safety for newbies to vaping

Electronic cigarette safety is another thing you will want to keep in mind when you fist start vaping.  Especially if you have small children in your house.  The e-liquid, or smoke juice, may have nicotine in it, if you are like most of us that are moving from cigs to e-cigs.  After a while, you may start phasing out the nicotine by getting lower and lower amounts in your favorite e liquids.  However, something to remember, is that even a small amount ingested by a small child can be very harmful, and even fatal.

If a toddler eats one cigarette, it can seriously harm them.  A bottle of e-liquid contains a carton or more worth of nicotine in that small amount of liquid. Keep this in mind, and have a good safe place to keep your electronic cigarette supplies out of the reach of small children for their own safety. Little kids are curious, and will climb up things to get to something colorful that they see up high, so it is a good idea to keep them in some kind of storage box, so they are more out of sight.

Also, if you have a spill, and it gets on your skin, it can soak in and make you feel very ill.  You need to wash any skin with soap and water to keep it from soaking in too much, as soon as a spill happens.   Do not just wipe it off with a towel, or paper towel, because that will just make it spread over a larger area of your skin, and allow more to be absorbed before you get it washed off.  Keep this in mind for personal safety, as well as the safety of others, including your children and even pets.

When I am filling up my e cig with smoke juice, I normally keep everything over a small cookie sheet I bought just for this.  It keeps any spilled fluids contained, and I can easily wash it off when I am done if I happen to make a bit of a mess.   You should always have a couple of paper towels on hand as well, just to keep your e-cig cleaned off when your done, and many people use them when they are opening the parts that hold the liquids, so they do not get it on their fingers.

If you get it in your eyes…  It will freakin burn like fire!  Get to the kitchen sink and run cool water in your eye(s) for at least 5 minutes.  Longer if needed for sure.  I have never had it happen to me, but have read about it happening to someone else, and he was in pain for quite a while.  I would even suggest getting medical help after rinsing your eyes, just to be on the safe side.  But that may depend if the burning stopped or kept going too.   I can’t really say for sure, but if it hurts and it is in your eyes, it would be the smart thing to do.

I am sure there are some flavors out there, that contain real berry flavor extracts, and such, that may easily stain your cloths too, if you spill it on them, so use care, and you should be fine.  I know I have spilled a couple of drops here and there on my shirt, or pants, and have not noticed a stain, but every flavor can be different.  Again, just use your head, and you shouldn’t have any issues to worry about.

Okay, that was the bad stuff.  Now the good side of things.  If you are going from regular tobacco cigarettes to electronic cigarettes, you will no longer have to worry about your paint in your house becoming yellowed over time from the nicotine in the smoke.  There is no smoke, just water vapors that dissipate pretty fast.   You will notice that your house will start smelling cleaner, and your cloths will not smell like what your smoking.  You can walk up to non smokers right after taking a few hits off your e cig, and they will not smell it all over you.   The safety part of it, is that the vapor you breath out has almost nothing left in it for others to breath in.  Some will have a lingering smell, depending on the flavor, but many have no smell left at all in the vapor that you blow out.  Second had vaping does not look like an issue with the research that I have read, that was done by notable research facilities.

I hope you find this information helpful about electronic cigarette safety.

Happy Vaping,

First days of vaping with a good electronic cigarette

My wife and I were talking tonight after dinner, and she mentioned something that I should write about for beginners.   After she said it, it was like a no brain-er, and I am trying to figure out why it wasn’t one of my first blog posts…  But there is something important you should understand about going from smoking a pack or two a day, to vaping.  Especially when you test your first e-cig out at a vaping store.   Even more so, if you have a smokers cough or other breathing issues.

The first time you go into a vapors store to check out electric cigarettes, and test some flavors to see which one you want to start with, your going to come up to a small stumbling block if you are like most of us.  You walk up to the counter, they hand you some sampler e-cig, and you pick a flavor to test out,,,  then you take a big deep drag on it, and wallah… your choking your head off.    Don’t worry, it is completely normal at first.  It is a different thing you are taking into your lungs, and they are not used to it.  It takes a few more puffs (smaller ones) and you should be fine.

My wife was the first of us to take a trial drag at the flea market shop, then me.  She did not choke up like I did at all.  But, I have to use an inhaler a lot due to industrial lung issues from being around a boat yard that sanded bottom paint off of the boats, and I have a lot of copper dust in my lungs that will not come out.  On top of that, I was smoking a pack and a half to two packs a day.  Dhu…

Okay, so I knew I needed to get off of the cigarettes and I would breath a lot better.  Quitting just wasn’t working.  I tried patches, gums, lozenges, and even paid a couple hundred bucks once for a hypnotist.  Yeah, nothing worked for me or my wife.   Over the years, we tried everything on the market, including going to smoking cessation classes at a hospital (twice), and we still smoked.   However, these electronic cigarettes that I heard of many years before, but could never find, sounded like the ticket I needed to get away from cigarettes for good.

So far it is working very well for me.  It only took a day to say I was not going to smoke any more.  We took our cigarettes and tossed the last of them, and woke up the next day with nothing but our ego kits and started vaping.   My cough went away that day, and I use my inhaler about 1/10th as much as I used to.  I can breath a lot better now, and one of these days, I will completely move away from the nicotine.

My wife on the other hand, just hasn’t found what will work for her yet.  She keeps breaking down and buying cigarettes every month or two, and then quits again.  She just needs to sample more flavors and find one that does not hurt her throat.  Once she does, I am sure she will get completely off of regular (analog) cigs too.   Yes, I have smokes a few when she has them, but I clearly prefer my e-cigs over a real cig now days, and have no problem with not buying them at all.

I am not saying that these will for sure be the ticket for you to quit smoking.  What I am saying, is that if you really want to get off of regular cigarettes, but can’t break the habit, this may be the best alternative for you too.  If you break down and buy real cigarettes again, just smoke some, then go back to the e-cigs, and keep at it.   It is clearly harder for some to quit than others, but if you keep at it, eventually you may win.  You have the right to try, and these are clearly safer, with over 4000 less chemicals than a standard cigarette has.

If it is your time to check out electronic cigarettes, then give it a try and see how you like it.  If you do like it, spend the money to get what works best for you, so you can work away from, or stop smoking completely.  It is not a smoking cessation plan that is approved by the government yet, but it seems to have better success rates than anything else on the market, from the research and studies I have read.  At it’s worst, it is a better, healthier, or at least safer alternative to smoking actual cigarettes.

Good luck and keep up with my blog, as I will be putting all kinds of tips and reviews on this site.  I hope to start making some videos some time soon too. We will see how that goes… I am not sure how good my camera is.

Thank you for stopping by,

itaste MPV, Great mod battery at a super price

Hello,

I have been using this itaste mpv for a while now, but decided it is past time to give a full review of it.   After looking at all the different mods out there to come up with a nice long lasting batter that is easier on the pocket book than most, I chose to go with the Itaste MPV mod.   It comes in 3 color choices; silver, black and metallic blue.   I would have got the black if they had them in stock when I picked mine up, but they had blue and silver,, so I took the silver, because the only blue one they had,,, had a scratch on it.    I wanted black, because when I am driving, the sun always seems to find anything shiny, and blasts the sun right back at me.

The thing that made me look at it though, was the price.  Then I saw that several of the people at the vapor store were using them also, so I asked about it, and it seemed great.  Especially since it was only about $50.  Well, I think I paid $55 plus tax.

Ok, after using this for several months now, I only have one small complaint, and it is pretty minor indeed.  The power button sits flush with the outside of the mod.  You can feel it, but you do need to pay attention to it or you will be off a bit and not push it good enough.  Sometimes, when out walking the dog, or doing other things, i find myself accidentally shutting the power off, because my finger will not be on the button right, and must bounce on it and shut it down.  Not often, but it happens to me about once a week.  So, like I said,  no major complaint, but it is there.  If the button protruded a bit more, I don’t think this would ever happen on accident.

This battery lasts a very long time too.  More than other 2600 mh batteries, and I have found out why.  I went on, you guessed it,,,  youtube.com, and watched several others reviewing it, and found one guy that tore it to pieces, and opened it up.  There is not one 2600 mh battery, but 2, 2200mh batteries.  This gives it very stable and long lasting power.  If you can’t plug it in over night, no big deal.  I vape 300 or more puffs a day, and it will last me 2 to 3 days without having to charge it back up.   Generally I do charge it every night though.

The power indicator tells you how much charge is left also.  It glows green for full power, and tests show it gives full power throughout this cycle.  Then when it glows yellow, it is telling you to get it on the charger. It does loose a bit of the power when it is glowing yellow. The final stage is red.  If you do not charge it, it will shut itself down to prevent the batteries from over discharging.  That is a cool feature.  Like I said, I generally plug it in nightly, except when I was testing how long it would last.

This thing has so much power in it, that if say your out on your boat fishing and your cell phone is dying,,, you can plug into the bottom of it, and charge your phone, and still have plenty of power left to vape.  It has a standard USB power port on the bottom, and a switch to turn on when using it as a charger for a phone, or other device.  How cool is that…

There is also a puff counter on it.  It will tell you how many puffs you have used since you last turned it on.  I generally turn it off at night when I charge it and keep track of my daily usage that way.  It is also where the up and down buttons are, to set the voltage to what you want to use.  It goes from 3.3, to 5 volts in one tenth of a volt increments.   Some flavors taste better at a higher setting, while others will give a burnt taste, and you have to turn them down.

I can use it on all my cartomizers, and my corsair atty, as well as my vivi nova tank. It is very versatile, and fits well in my shirt pocket.

At around $50 bucks, it is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a battery that absolutely will not die off before the end of the day.  It is so nice, I am putting the factory sales page info below, so you can see all the details.  I am sure I missed something along the way.  Like, the cord… it has a IPAD/IPhone as well as firewire and mini USB ports on it for plugging in most devices you would need to charge with it.

iTaste MVP features
• Myriad compatible ( Thread fit iClear 10, iClear 16, iClear 30, CE4, CE5 ,eGo, T2, T3 , 510 etc )
• Operating Volt adjustable ( 3.3-5.0 Volts in .1 volt increments )
• Puff/hit counter
• Polymer li-ion rechargeable battery
• Portable power source for electronic products
• Long life energy 2600 mAh  ( I found this to be inaccurate and better than described)
• Battery capacity display
• ON/OFF safety switch
• Passthrough — Yes, it is full passthrough, which means you can use it while it is plugged in to the wall or your pc.
• Standard Micro & 2.0 USB Socket
• Short circuit /atomizer protection / Over-discharge protection
iTaste MVP Starter kit:
1x iTaste MVP
1x iClear30 Dual Coil Clearomizer or 2x iClear16 Dual Coil Clearomizers  ( I did not care for these cartos at all and gave them to my wife)
1x USB cable
1x Beauty ring
1xTransparent carrying case  ( I would call this a gift box, not case)  In fact, I can’t find a case or lanyard to work with it, I had to make my own.
I hope this is helpful for you.  I love this thing, and the price range is great.  Beats the heck out of having to spend $100 or more on something that has to be charged daily.
happy vaping,

Red USA Mix e-liquid by Dekang, flavor review

Ok, so I do not buy too many pre-mixed flavors, and even less of them from manufacturers from China.  I just can’t feel they are as safe as ones made in the USA. Maybe it is just me, but that is how I feel.  However, after reading reviews when I was picking up some flavoring to mix myself, I saw this, and figured hey, it sounds like the one I am searching for…  it isn’t,, but oh well.  Since I got it, I will do a full review on it, like I do with my DIY flavor mixes, because some of you may want to know what this tastes like.

I ordered this at 12% nicotine, so it would have a decent throat hit, and it is about the middle of the road blend for their flavor.  I am testing in my corsair atty at 2 ohms, and set the volts on my ego twist to 4 volts to start.   When I open the bottle, I notice a dark, but slight tobacco flavor.  I say dark, because it seems rich, but is pretty light in the over all scheme of things.  There is a spicy smell that comes out with it, that about washes it away.  I hope it tastes better than it smells, but at least it was on sale.  LOL

The first thing I notice, is that it has decent vapor production, and it definitely tastes better than it smells.  It does had a decent tobacco flavor to it, but I am noticing an aftertaste that is sitting kinda funny with me. It is lingering for now.  Tastes like tin.   I think I will go eat lunch and come back to this, in case it is a left over mix in my mouth from the last flavor I was testing.

Ok, back from having a couple of tacos for lunch.  I am glad I stopped and took a break, so I could have a clean pallet and try this again.  It is a pretty decent flavor.  Not an all time favorite for me, but pretty good.  It has a slight, and I mean real slight grassy taste that lingers after you have vaped it for a while.  The flavor on the inhale is a nice tobacco flavor, with perhaps a small touch of some type of chocolate in it.  I am not real sure on that, but it is not a sweet flavor like carmel, it is more like a coco.   But the tobacco is the main flavor, and it may be a nice one for you to try out.

I will likely vape the rest of the bottle, but I will not buy more, as I am really not interested in e liquids from China, and that is the biggest downside of this flavor.  It is a nice vape, with good vapor production and no bad after tastes.  It is pretty cheap too, but I just can’t get past that made in China idea.   I don’t chew on my kids toys either…

I have seen a number of good reviews for this company though, so I thought it would be okay to get a bottle and give it a try.  But I have no intention of sampling a ton of their flavors.  Maybe one here and one there.

So, over all, the Dekang Red USA Mix flavor is not bad at all.  Not one I would make my all day vape, but I can see vaping the rest of this 30 mil bottle over the next month or two.   If you are looking for a decent pre-made liquid on the cheap, this might be for you though.   I am still vaping it though, after a half hour, and it kinda grows on you.  Not bad at all – just has that whole China thing going on that will keep me from buying more of it.

It is still getting better, even as I am finishing this review off..  so if you don’t have that whole China e-juice phobia going on like I do,, it is definitely worth a try.  My wife gave it a try too, and she liked it as well.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you too can stop smoking and start vaping!

DIY (Do It Yourself) Flavors

Many people I have read about in the e-cig forums, make their own DIY, e-liquids to vape. There are a number of reasons that people do this. Some do it to save money, and others may just like to do things themselves to know what all is in it. Others, do it just for something to do. After reading about them making their own flavors, and having fun doing it, I started reading up, so I could start making my own. It does take some reading to learn what to do and what not to do. Please read a lot before considering having a go at your own DIY e liquids, to keep you and your family safe.

I went to a site that sells bulk flavors, and the VG, PG, and nicotine, and a few of the tools needed for the job, and waited… I did a lot more reading in the mean time, trying to find recipes for the 22 flavors I ordered. (why start simple…)

It came in in just a few short days, and I had to get myself busy to see how it would go. I set up a table in my garage, which is also my office. I went to the store and picked up some glass measuring beakers, and some rubber gloves.

NOTE: You should probably ware safety glasses or goggles, and a long sleeve lab type coat for skin and eye protection. The reason I say this, is because I bought 100 MG nicotine liquid, and when it is that strong, it is also very deadly. Even from splashing on your skin. It soaks in, and your screwed. So BE VERY CAREFUL… You do not want to end up in the hospital, or with a dead pet, or child.

My wife loves this banana nut bread mix we get down at the flea market, and I love a Marlboro liquid that they have. It is a good 75 miles or more round trip, so we can’t just run down whenever we want. This prompted me to make sure to try making good flavors that we could vape instead of having to drive all that way, every time we ran low. The drive in my truck is pretty costly, before making any purchases. I made sure to get her banana nut bread, along with every tobacco flavor they had for one brand, and a bunch of other flavors that just sounded good.

If your going to mix your own e liquids, make sure to get a good calculator like one by e juice me up. Available for free here: http://www.ejuice.breaktru.com   It will make the nicotine and other calculations very simple, and you can save all your own recipes so when you have one that works, you can simply open it back up and do it again.  Also, it comes with a ton of recipes at their website that you can download for free, and use.   They allow users to send in their recipes for others to use as well as many that are posted by the software developer.

Oh man,,, when you first open that 100 mg nicotine, make sure you are in a well ventilated area, and/OR, wear a vapor respirator. That stuff will sting your nose now, let me tell you. Also, after reading more, I see many people dilute it down and store it at about 50 mg. I left mine at 100, because it is real simple to figure the math that way. I may change over at some other time, but for now it remains the same, 100 mg strength.

Read my other blogs to see my flavor reviews, and product reviews. I have a ton of flavors to review, and more will be on the way as time passes, so there should always be fresh postings on the site.

Thanks for stopping by, and Happy Vaping!

Orange dream Bar, by Flavor west, DIY flavor review

Another success was my flavor..  Orange dream bar, by Flavor west.  I like the ice cream bars, so I figured I would give this flavor a try first.  It is a pre made flavor mix, so I just add it to my eliquid base, put in my nicotine, and walla..  At 15%, it turns out pretty darn good.  I set my first batch to 10mg of nicotine, then have gone down from there to 8, and 6mg.

I am working on slowly getting off of the nicotine entirely due to heart problems.  Nicotine restricts your arteries, and well, mine are in bad shape.  So, finding great tasting flavors to vape is more important to me, as I work on my over all health using e cigs instead of real cigs.  I can feel a big improvement, but that is another story.  Back to this review…

This flavor is amazing, to say the least.  I stayed with the 15% flavoring that worked well for the banana nut bread, and I really like this a lot.  The orange really stands out when you take in your vapor, then as you inhale, you feel the creamyness flowing down your throat, and you really taste the cream flavor too. Nice and smooth, and not real sweet.

The orange dream bar flavor has a good amount of throat hit, without being too much.  It is kinda on the mild side I guess, since that creamy feeling hits at the same time, when you inhale.  But I noticed that after vaping it for several hours, you do feel more of the throat hit.   The vapor production is real good too, for a 50/50 blend of pg and vg.   It isn’t a super thick cloud of vapor, but it is about the same as a regular cigaretts smoke cloud.

If you like orange dream bars, or orange ice cream bars, then you should really enjoy vaping this flavor.  This could easilly be an all day vape for me, but I keep going back to my Marlboro flavor from the flea market.  Hopefully one day, I will find that flavor and be able to make it myself and save the trip.

I found no reviews for any of the flavor west flavors, so I figured I would work my way through them all, and share the results with you.   I hope this information helps someone out, as I searched the web for days, and found nothing from anyone about them.  So if you enjoy DIY vaping, then keep reading my other posts as I work my way through my first 22 flavors from flavor west.  I will put the mix info in each review so you know where to start.  Your taste buds may vary, but I will at least give you a good starting point.

I am not sure what flavor I will try next.  I am looking for more recipes on line, and hopefully I will find some that will work with the flavors I have.

I will keep you posted, but so far I have 2 flavors that came out great.  I want to find about 10 to 20 more, then I will be set.  Heck, I might even open a site to sell some of my USA made e-liquids, since all of my ingredients are from the USA.  That e liquid from China just makes me feel uneasy, so I would prefer 100% USA made, eliquid with all USA made ingredients for myself.  I know, some of the good flavors come from Italy, but I haven’t tried those yet.

Happy Vaping!

Stag leaf tobacco by flavor west, review

June 30, 2013 by
Filed under DIY Flavors, Electronic Cigarette Help, Flavor Reviews

Hello,

Today I am breaking down and writing another tobacco flavor review for Flavor West’s, stag leaf tobacco flavor.   I mixed this batch at 2% flavor back on 5-5-13, and it is now 6-30, so it has had almost 2 months to steep.  That is plenty of time for any flavor.  Most of these have not needed that long at all.  I have just been busy doing other things, and just finally getting back to this.  Oh, also, there is no nicotine in this test batch at all.  After so many bad flavors, I decided to stop using nicotine in it until I find a good flavor to put it in.

As I opened the bottle to get it ready, it almost has a bit of a cinnamon smell in it.  Not really, but kinda like that, along with perhaps some berry incense or something along that line.  Not too appealing before I ever got a puff of it, but at least it isn’t knocking me against the wall like some flavors will.   It is really a hard to explain smell…  not horrid, but not what I would call good.  On to the taste testing..

Ok, I have vaped this for about 30 minutes now, and I am not really impressed.  It is not as bad as it could be, but at just 2% flavor, it has a very odd taste for something that is supposed to be a tobacco flavor.  I come up with a mild tingle, like when you eat a red hot, with a potpourri flavor mixed in.  Kinda an earthy floral taste going on in this one.  Not like the incense it smells like, but more of one of those bags of potpourri that you pick up at the store to put in those candle heated bowls.

One thing I can say for sure, is that it is not horrid tasting.  It is on the interesting side, but it would definitely not be my daily vape, or an all day vape for me.  There is something about it that peaks my interest, but there is enough oddity to it, to put me off a bit.

After vaping on this stag leaf tobacco for a while now, I tend to think that they were going to that flavor you get when you have your first cigarette in a long time… that kinda tingly spiciness, that soon goes away with just another cigarette or two.  Maybe this is it for some other brand of cigs, but not for the ones I have smoked in the past.   It also leaves a bit of a grassy after taste in your mouth.  Almost like an eggnog spicy flavored grass.  Yet the flavor it leaves on your lips is more of the flowery potpourri flavor.  It is real hard to explain this one.    I mean, everyone’s taste buds are going to be a bit different, and this is not my cup of tea, but it may hit the mark for you.  Or, it may be a good addition to another flavor.

I keep trying to think of how this would work for me.  I think if put with a chocolate, and custard, this would be good for making a boston cream tobacco flavor..  That is about all I can come up with as I vape this flavor.

It is clear to see what they were going for, with that first smoke in a long time kind of flavor, but that after taste just looses the battle for me.  I will be saving this one though, and trying it some day with a good chocolate and custard to see if I am right about the boston cream tobacco mix.  Or perhaps with an eggnog flavor it will work well.  It kinda has an eggnog hint going on in there somewhere.   Maybe that strange flavor I am coming up with is more along the lines of a ginger flavor..  That makes more sense to me than cinnamon and eggnog… Then you have a bit of that flowery maybe citrus type flavor on the exhale.  It is an odd one for me.

It is not at the top of my list, but it is a keeper for trying other mixed flavors to see if I can get something good to come out of it.  However, it is not at the bottom of my list of flavors I have tried either.  Due to the distinct different flavor sensations I am getting from this stag leaf tobacco, by flavor west, I would say it has my curiosity peaked, as to what I can do with it, because it is clearly not a stand alone flavor for me.

I hope this review of my 2% mix of Flavor West’s, stag leaf tobacco is helpful to someone out there trying to find out what flavors will work for them.   I can neither recommend or condemn this one.   Good luck with your DIY mixes!

Tidewater Tobacco by Flavor West – DIY Review

I mixed up a batch of the tidewater tobacco by Flavor West, on 5-5-2013.   Today I am sampling it.  The flavor mix is at 2%, as everything stronger would gag almost anyone, on the other tobacco flavors I have tested out.

Right off the bat, first few hits are showing promising signs of a decent tobacco flavor, or possibly one…  with one major exception.  The throat hit is amazingly strong, harsh, or what ever you would call it.  Almost like a dry hit kind of strong.   I am going to take a few minutes, get a drink and come back to it.  I know the wick is completely soaked, so it is not a dry hit, but it seems a lot like it.

Ok, I am back now.   It is real strong.  A slight grassy taste to it, but absolutely none of the perfume crap that I have been tasting in their other tobacco flavors.  It is much better in that respect.  Well, only a very slight hint of that talc powdery feel to it on my inner mouth, and a super slight hint of that perfume to it, but so slight, you hardly notice it until you keep looking for it.

It is starting to look like the issue may be my new wick.  I really soaked it good now, and the harshness seems to be gone.  The vapor production is pretty darn good.  Maybe the highest for any of the tobacco flavors I have tried so far, and it is on the lowest power setting of my ego twist battery.

Now that the harshness is gone, and I got a drink to clear my throat of the burning…  The grassy flavor seems very mild, and I am starting to think this may be one of the best tobacco flavors from Flavor west.  I bought them all, and only have 3 more to test out after this one.  This may just be my new base flavor for things like bluebacco, and others.  At least until I find one better – perhaps a different brand will bring better vaping in the future, but only time will tell.

I am going to vape on this for a few hours and see if it looses it’s luster.  At only 2% flavor mix, I am surprised it isn’t all washed out, but it is actually nice.  I even had my wife take a few hits to get her opinion on it, and she said it was pretty darn good.  She liked it a lot.

Again, this is a 50/50 mix of PG and VG, and I did not put any nicotine in these test batches.   Now that the wicking issue seems to be fixed, the throat hit is very smooth and creamy.  Why did I say creamy?   Because it seems to have a very slight cream flavor going in.  The grassy flavor seems to be all but gone, and I am not noticing any bad after taste coming in to my mouth at all, after about 20 minutes of vaping this.

It does seem to have a mild tobacco flavor to it.  I kinda expected a bit more of that, but over all, this is pretty good tasting.  I will add one percent of flavor to see if it gets any better or if it takes it the other direction, but at 2%, it is pretty decent, and could be an all day vape as it is mild and not at all over powering, and is not leaving any kind of a lingering flavor in my mouth.  I do notice though, that with this flavor, if it even starts to run low on liquid, it produces that super harsh hit, quicker than any of the other flavors I have tried to date.

It is a definite one for you to try out if you are DIY vape juice mixing to find better and cheaper ways to vape.

Happy Vaping,

Honeywood Tobacco by Flavor West – review, DIY

Well, Here goes the test of the Honeywood Tobacco, by flavor west.

Once again, it is more of a perfume flavor than anything else.  I taste no honey, no wood, and clearly no tobacco.  What is up with their flavor testers???

It is a lighter flavor  of tobacco regular.  Good vapor production,  more of that stupid perfume flavor.

This is going to be a super short review, because I am getting upset at all these horrid flavors I bought from Flavor West.  I still have several more tobacco flavors to test out.  I hope I can stomach them.  I am only going to test one more today, then giving my taste buds the rest of the day off.  Unfortunately, they deserve a break.

Oh, in case I didn’t say it clear enough..  Honeywood tobacco flavor, from flavor west at 2%

SUCKS,,, REAL FREAKING BAD!!!
